New journal on medical-aid-in-dying (MAID)

The first issue of the Journal of Aid-in-Dying Medicine has now been published online. The Journal is online only; i.e., there is no print version. The Journal is also open access, meaning that anyone can read it. There is no paywall for any articles, thanks to advertisers.

Some highlights from this first issue: A discussion of assessing capacity for end-of-life decision-making in cognitively complex cases, an issue that impacts some patients considering VSED; an article about qualifying for MAiD without a definitive diagnosis, something that might pave the way for a person to carry out MAiD instead of VSED; and a movie review titled “Capable Filmmakers Produce Engaging Films about Hastened Deaths.”
