On Saturday, April 18, at Bellingham Unitarian Fellowship, Wendy Longacre Brown and Sarah Longacre held a panel discussion in Bellingham, WA, home to VSED Resources Northwest. Longtime VRNW board member Kate Christie, author of The VSED Handbook, participated in the panel, as did Phyllis Shacter, author of Choosing to Die, and Erin Mae Glass, attorney at Chuckanut Law Firm, board member of End-of-Life Washington, and longtime advocate for Death with Dignity.
Attendees screened selected scenes from the VSED documentary currently in production, The Cheryl Hauser Effect, which follows Wendy and Sarah’s mother Cheryl through her planning process and eventual VSED journey. The post-screening discussion focused on end-of-life choice and the realities of planning and carrying out VSED with a loved one. The panel portion of the event was filmed and is available on YouTube (see below).
